Commenting on the signing of Alejandro Garnacho, Mariska added: "I know he is already here. He’s a winger primarily and the way I look at him is how I see him fitting in there.

Regarding potential transfers, he said: "Anything is possible as long as the transfer window is open -- players coming in or players leaving. When I arrived a year ago I said I liked this squad and now its even better. That feeling hasn’t changed."

With regards to the squad, Mariska said: "We are monitoring Cole Palmer from day-to-day. Regarding Romeo Lavia and Benoît Badiashile, I don’t think that the pair will be back just after the international break, but they are coming closer. Lavia didn’t play at all two years ago, and appeared in a few games last season. "It's something that we're looking forward to, to give him more minutes this season but I couldn't confirm an exact date.

He also talked about Palmer’s England snub: "I have spoken to Thomas (Tuchel) a few times. He was one who wanted to come off and Cole is ruled out of the game and that’s an easy one he’s got a problem, clearly."

To wrap up his thoughts, Mariska added: "When Palmer is not available, who else can we count on?" Hopefully we can do that against Fulham."
