Tottenham Confirm Xavi Simons Transfer From Leipzig in £51m Deal

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the arrival of Dutch sensation Xavi Simons from German outfit RB Leipzig, it's understood, for the 22-year-old had already receive international clearance and a UK work permit.

The Premier League side announced: “Xavi Simons has signed a long-term contract and will wear the iconic number 7 shirt.”

Simons said in his first comment as a Tottenham player: “I’m delighted and really looking forward to starting a new chapter. It has long been my dream to join this great club. From the time I talked to the coach, I knew this was the place for me. I’ll bring creativity, skill, hard work and discipline to continue the tradition, and to reward our millions of fans.”

"Xavi Simons is someone who I’m very happy has joined us here at Brentford," head coach Thomas Frank said. He is a great addition with a lot of experience at a young age. Some other thoughts from his coach: “He has scored goals and can also create, whether playing as a playmaker of a left winger, and his vision will help us unlock stubborn defences.”

The £51m transfer is one of Tottenham’s biggest in the summer as they bolster their forward line ahead of the new Premier League season.
